Facebook makes newsfeed change for millions of iPhone app users

Facebook has made a change to the way its news feed appears in its iOS mobile app.

Users are divided over the decision to trade off the visibility of certain features to allow content more space on the screen.

The new Facebook app update causes the top and bottom menus to disappear once the user starts scrolling through their news feed. iPhone users with the update now have to scroll up for the tabs to reappear.

While features are generally repeated on both iPhone and Andriod, it’s unclear if Android users are currently experiencing the same update.

Social media consultant Matt Navara flagged the change on Twitter on Tuesday, writing, “Facebook has made an interesting change to its iOS app”.

“I’ve had this for about a week! I really like it, it takes away the clutter and you can really focus on the feed,” one user wrote.

But not everyone enjoys the change.

“At first I thought it was a problem so I kept closing the app, but then I realized it was their new ‘full screen’ experience… I’m so used to constantly tapping the menu options at the bottom! one user wrote.

“Got this last week, not sure I’m a fan, tbh,” wrote another.

“Super annoying having to scroll up a little bit again so I can tap the icons at the bottom,” wrote another.
