After Apple confirms it will comply with EU USB-C regulations, we may see the port become standard in next year’s iPhone 15 series, replacing the Lightning port. However, it looks like not all USB-C ports on the upcoming iPhone will be created equal Apple will likely put faster data transfers on the iPhone 15 Pro series.
This is according to reliable tipster and tech insider Ming-Chi Kuo, who claimed that only the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max would have USB-C ports with faster transfer speeds. As for the vanilla iPhone 15 models, they would still have USB 2.0 speeds that are the same as the Lightning port.
Take to Twitter, Kuo said the iPhone 15 Pro models will likely have a USB-C port that “significantly improves” over the rest of the iPhone 15 lineup. He went on to explain that the Pro models will use “at least” USB 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3.
So if users want their iPhones to have fast wired data transfer, they have no choice but to go for the Pro models next year. Of course, this is all just speculation, as Apple hasn’t confirmed anything so far, so take this information with a grain of salt.
