Mobile games can be played without a controller, right from your phone’s screen. However, sometimes a controller can come in handy so you can game in comfort. Not all games support controllers, though, but that’s where we come in.
Here we are going to take a look at some of the best mobile games with controller support. It is important to know that many of these games can also be played on console or PC. In general, mobile game ports have controller support, as the game was originally played with a controller. You can connect Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch controllers to your phone via Bluetooth, as well as other generic controllers.
10/10 Stardew Valley
First up we have Stardew Valley. This game was first released in 2016 and has since been available on iOS and Android. This farming game supports every type of controller so you can use whatever you have.
A controller makes it easy to browse your inventory and navigate Pelican Town. Overall, the mobile version of Stardew Valley paired with a controller delivers the full experience of the game with the convenience of having it on your phone.
9/10 Diablo Immortal
Diablo Immortal is a new game in the Diablo series, available for iOS and Android. This game has all the signature trademarks of a Diablo game, allowing you to mow through waves of enemies.
Since Diablo Immortal started out as a mobile game, it has simple, optimized touch controllers, but you can use a controller when playing on mobile if you’re not a fan of touchscreen Diablo. The settings menu is where you’ll find the button mapping options for the controller, allowing you to customize your controller experience.
8/10 Genshin effect
Next we have Genshin Impact. This is another game available on different platforms. Instead of using touch controls to explore Teyvat, you can plug in a controller.
Controllers are supported on the iOS version of Genshin Impact, but if you’re playing on an Android device, you won’t be able to use a controller. The Android version of Genshin Impact does not support controllers, but this may change in the future.
7/10 Final Fantasy 7: The First Soldier
Final Fantasy 7: The First Soldier is a battle royale game based on the world of Final Fantasy 7. Playing a fast-paced battle royale game with touch controllers can be a bit difficult, but luckily both the iOS and Android version of this game have controller support.
This game supports any controller you have so you can aim and navigate with greater precision. Before playing Final Fantasy 7: The First Soldier with a controller, it’s important to note that the controls are a bit different. We recommend taking some time to familiarize yourself with the controls before jumping in.
6/10 Rocket League side swipe
Rocket League Sideswipe is a mobile version of the classic Rocket League game. Instead of putting you directly on the pitch, this mobile game is 2.5D, allowing you to watch from one side of the pitch.
While it’s simpler than normal Rocket League, using a controller helps make your movements a bit more precise. Many believe that using a controller gives you an advantage, but that’s for you to decide.
5/10 Call of Duty: mobile
We all know Call of Duty. This wildly popular first-person shooter is based on careful movement and shooting. Call of Duty: Mobile takes this classic shooter and puts it right at your fingertips.
Call of Duty: Mobile only works with official PlayStation and Xbox controllers.
Fortunately, Call of Duty: Mobile has full controller support, so you don’t have to use touch controls. If you’re a Call of Duty veteran, it will feel natural to use a controller with your phone. Controllers work during gameplay, but you must touch the screen for menu navigation.
4/10 city architect
Townscaper is a relaxing building game that gives you the freedom to create the city of your dreams. There are no goals, allowing you to use your own creativity to do pretty much anything you want.
This game is available on Steam as well as iOS and Android. On mobile, you can use a controller, which allows you to completely sit back and relax. The touch controls for Townscaper are simple, but the game has full controller support if you’re more comfortable with that.
3/10 Dead cells
Dead Cells is a rogue-lite platform game available on almost every platform. This game requires some precise movement, especially with its rogue-lite gameplay. Instead of using your fingers to perform these actions, you can use a controller.
With a linked controller, you can move and attack with greater precision and make your way through procedurally generated biomes full of enemies.
2/10 Space marshals 3
Space Marshals 3 is an isometric game where you take on the role of a Space Marshal. As an action game, you have to take out enemies, but while doing so you have the option to focus on stealth.
The touch controls for Space Marshal are good, but with a controller you can become the ultimate space cowboy, able to shoot quickly and accurately.
Finally, we have Fantasian. This is a JRPG currently only available on iOS devices, such as Macs and iPhones. If you are a fan of the Final Fantasy series, this game may interest you as it is written by Hironobu Sakaguchi, who created Final Fantasy.
As an Apple Arcade game, Fantasian has no ads or microtransactions. Using a controller can completely immerse you in the game and maybe even forget you’re playing a mobile game.
